July 5th: What Is Patriotism Lay led service: Jennifer White
What comes to mind when you think about Patriotism? Is it love of our country, loyalty to our government (right or wrong), liberty and justice for all, life on our own beautiful land? We will sing patriotic hymns and hear what others write about patriotism. We will remember those in our midst who are in or were in the military. With the signing of the Declaration of Independence in July, 1776, the war for our freedom began. We will remember all who sacrificed and died when defending our country since then.
July 12: Standing on the Side of Love in Salt Lake Rev. Kathleen A. Green
14 Summitarians attended our denominational General Assembly in Salt Lake City, Utah, during the last week of June. It was a powerful experience and you’ll want to hear some of the reflections from those who were there. Come and experience the music, stories, inspirations, and possibilities that GA provided to over 3,000 Unitarian Universalists.
July 19: The Long Struggle Rev. Kathleen A. Green
Social justice work is never really easy, is it? The struggles for justice are long and often difficult. But we are called as religious people to the struggle – the long struggle. And we are not alone. We stand on the side of love with other Summitarians, with other Unitarian Universalists, with other progressive religious people. We are in the long struggle together.
July 26: Love Letters Service Leader: Gwen Baldwin
Four Summitarians have been asked to write a love letter to someone who has made a major impact on their lives. Come hear Norm Dessel, Trish Luna-deAlva, Carol Rawlins and Jack Shu share their letters and their thoughts concerning the influence this love has had on their lives. The Close Enough Band will provide the music.
