Artist’s Reception - The Circus Painter
A memorial exhibition of the works of Maus Palmer will go on display at Summit Fellowship this month. The show will open Saturday, September 8th, with a reception from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., hosted by the painter’s daughter Juana Page.
Maus and his wife Mary, a long time U.U., would yearly do the family trek to the Barnum & Bailey Circus. He was a contemporary and friend of the well known western painter, Olaf Weighorst and was commissioned to paint Olaf’s portrait for his biography. Other commissioned works were historical murals in a new bank in down town San Diego, and circus murals for a circus cafe in Paris.
